So ...I do from time to time, enjoy meditating and I have been trying to get into it more consistently, however .. it is tough! I have done different variations of meditations and have come across some that are great, and others that are not. I am using this iPhone App right now by a website called Meditation Oasis, you can find them here (www.meditationoasis.com). It is a fantastic application (comes in podcast form as well), that offers many different types of Meditation, ranging from 7 minutes right up to 30 minutes. It is a guided application, and the lady and her husband (who does the music) who have created it, are fantastic. She offers a very soothing voice, playing to her husbands relaxing piano tones. I highly recommend checking out their website if you are interested in beginning to meditate and would like some guidance.
The second is a little book that has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. It is simply titled, "How to Meditate: A Guide to Self Discovery" by author Lawrence Lashan. This little gem of a book was a random buy of mine a few years back and it is what got me into meditation in the first place. It offers many insights into meditation and the different forms, alluring traps to not fall into, as well as some ideas of mysticism and different meditation schools around the Globe. There is one chapter focusing on different types of meditation that one can do. One that really stood out for me is called The Meditation of the Bubble. In this meditation, you basically picture yourself at the bottom of a beautiful lake, sitting cross legged with your eyes closed. As you try and focus your thoughts, when one does enter your mind, you simply think about it for a few seconds and then let it float upwards in a bubble towards the top of the lake, clearing your head. If you ever find yourself straying from the meditation, simply pull yourself back, allow a thought to come to the forefront and then let it pass .. continuing to focus on what you are doing, it is ok if you have the same thought come to mind. Just think about it and let it pass. This has worked for me in the past and I hope someone benefits from it as well!
That being said. The temperature is lowering to the plus side of things here in Winnipeg, the sky is blue and the sun is warm. I can taste Summer already. I think a glass of Rum and a quick Hot Tub are in order. Playing a show at the Kings Head Pub tomorrow, starting at 10pm. Banshee's Wail (www.bansheeswail.ca) .. yes .. I have to plug sometimes!
Until next time ....
Cheers!

The Ghosts that Haunt Me
So this is my first post, I've never done a blog before, or at least I have never continued to do one. I'm going to try my best at this and see what happens.
To start this blog off, i'm going to leave you with a great song by a great Canadian band, actually from Winnipeg, MB where I live. I grew up listening to these guys and I have loved them ever since. Some fond memories happen each and every time I listen to this particular song. This song also plays with my emotions and is very haunting, sad and at the same time extremely happy and feel good.
